The Falkland Families Association :: about us

The Falkland Families Association was formed on 14th April 1983 on board the M. V. CUNARD COUNTESS, en route from the Falkland Islands to Montevideo in South America. The occasion was the return journey of those who had been bereaved in the Falklands War and who had come on the official government-sponsored pilgrimage to visit the graves of their loved ones on land and sea.

The aims of the association are to maintain and strengthen existing friendships between relatives and friends of those who died in the Falklands Campaign and between those relatives and friends and the people of the Falkland Islands.

Membership of this association is open to the relatives of all British Servicemen who were killed during the Falklands Campaign.

Associate membership of this association is open to friends of those servicemen and to all who live in the Falkland Islands.

Two regular yearly meetings are held. These are the Reunion and Annual General Meeting in April and the Memorial Service in St. Pauls Cathedral in June.

Assistance may be given to help members attend these events in certain instances if funds are available.

Financial help may also be given to relatives to visit the Falkland Islands.
